SP Furniture Series
We design products, furniture, and interiors both within our larger projects and as stand alone engagements. Our design process focuses on material research, blending functionality and experimentation into a fresh synthesis, often within well established mediums.
Direct daylight passes through the polished faces and casts a sundial-like form on the floor, tracking time throughout the day. Light entering at an angle is refracted endlessly within the table causing it to hold a steady glow. The entire piece is structurally engineered to be self-supporting in a manner borrowed from tension/cable bridge construction.
A place to withdraw to and engage with one’s own work. We extended our exploration of small form cantilevers and combined wood and steel form. The desk’s resulting two part maple top lends warmth and function to the intentionally heavy stainless steel support forms, creating a simple, solid and yet cohesive whole.
