Palm Springs House
IN CONSTRUCTION 2021
Our site north of Palm Springs is flanked by an old mining community on one side and wide-open conservation land on the other. With views in all direction, our intervention in this site is aimed to fit minimally inside of a hundred-year-old olive grove originally planted by a Sardinian immigrant.
With a constrained footprint, we are utilizing modular building techniques to pre-fabricate this home as a series of discrete container size elements, which we will install on site with a crane. This approach minimizes both the costs and the impact of the construction on the sensitive site, while allowing sufficient design flexibility to build a home for artists that will serve as both retreat and rural studio.

The home will be self-sustaining, utilizing geothermal energy for heating and cooling purposes, as well as solar panels for generating power. Additional power will be drawn from a nearby wind farm.
